Michelle Rook: Regional Reporter

Michelle Rook is a nationally recognized agricultural broadcaster and has reported farm news and markets from the nation’s capitol to countries like Brazil and Australia. She currently serves as the Managing Farm Director at WNAX Radio in Yankton, South Dakota, which is one of the top rated farm stations in the country, covering five states. She’s also an agricultural reporter and Meteorologist for KTIV-TV in Sioux City, Iowa.
She began serving as a Regional Reporter for AgDay & U.S. Farm Report in April, 2008.
Michelle served as President of the National Association of Farm Broadcasting in 2006, and was the second female to hold this title. She also served two terms as an NAFB national officer and as a regional vice president. Michelle was also a national NAFB scholarship winner.
Michelle has been recognized with the Regional and National NAFB Horizon Award, NAFB Newscast and Marketcast Awards, and reporting recognition from the Associated Press. She has also received several media awards state farm groups and in 2007 received the Milton Hakel Agricultural Communications Award from the National Farmers Union. In 2006, she was also recognized by the SDSU Journalism Department as a Distinguished Alumnus.
Before coming to WNAX, Michelle produced and anchored the highly rated weekly agricultural television program Today’s Ag on KELO-TV and KOTA-TV. She also produced daily radio programs and was a producer and host of Midwest Market Analysis on S.D. Public Television.
Michelle received her bachelor’s degrees in dairy manufacturing and ag journalism from SDSU, and a master’s degree in journalism. She also broadcast meteorology certification from Mississippi State University.
Rook was a State FFA Officer in South Dakota, a national FFA officer candidate and received her American FFA Degree. She was also involved in 4-H for 11 years.
Michelle currently lives in Yankton with her husband Brian. She is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and is involved in the church’s Praise Team, is a Sunday school music teacher and serves on the Board of Education.
