Based on better futures prices, it appears the Milk Income Loss Contract (MILC) payments will be winding down in the fourth quarter of 2009 and drop to zero in 2010, according to
analysis by the National Milk Producers Federation.
Based on current futures prices, NMPF economists are projecting a 60¢/cwt MILC payment in October, a 37¢ payment for November and a 6¢ payment in December. After that, Boston Class I prices are projected to exceed target prices that would allow payments.
