finished harvest yesterday in less than ideal conditions, very good yields, monitor hitting in the 80bu. plus in many areas, overall in in 60's for averages.I'm sure we'll be hearing stories of 100bu.around here, it just has to happen.
Been 9 years since mother nature has fully co-operated to bring about such yields, was questioning my farming techniques and prowess.
Monkey off the back this year on all fronts. Will plant wheat today.Very very pleased and blessed.
Good luck to all.

Cut a wopping 22 acres yesterday. Took on this new farm in spring of 2008. The 56 acre field I was cutting in yesterday was in corn last year. While cutting beans, I found a 3" tall hedge post that was about 12" around, out in the middle of a field that someone had cut off with a chainsaw. We hit it about 4 MPH and the whole combine jumped. The darn cutter bar didn't go over it. Cost about 2 hrs to fix. I am suprised we didn't destroy the head as fast as we were going! New farms can be frustrating! 56 acre field averaged 58.

Moved to another field. Beans are not so good there. Will finish here today and move to the next.

Life is good!

Looks like my first bean field will go 67.2, this is taking into
account the shrinkage from 14.3 down to 13 and is across the scales.
Better than I thought/showed in some yield projections. Guess the
lesson learned is not to drink beer and listen to ZZ Top on your
MP3 player while doing pod counts.

ECI-haven't turned a tap since last Wed.We got 5.8 inches over the 3 day period and as much as that was if I could just get some sunshine I think we could go in a day or so.I spent the morning working on the green POD (piece of debt) and was ready to try some beans by the house but before I finished my bolonga it was raining. Now it is pounding the house as I one finger type. This is starting to $uck big time!TOMON-since you are done come to Missery.

There has been zero harvested in NE S. Dak. in over a week. Acouple of machines crawling along on Sunday trying to combine 17% beans. People still trying to chop silage, pulling trucks through the feilds. Snowed Sunday night and nothing has moved since.

Finally, a break... After 2 days of mucked up harvesting at a snails pace we get more rain. Yeah, like we needed it! 10 more days of bean harvest and we will be ready for corn and maybe Christmas?
Field finished yesterday ended up in the mid 40's which is OK. Beans that we started yesterday should be in the 50's. Time will tell.

Life is good!
