Red POS of mine is down right now...not a big del, just a rotor belt. Was able to get the belt threaded thru all of the stuff you have to remove to get the belt on. Ran outta daylite before I got it on.
Biggest problem I have cutting beans this late in the year is the fire ant hills. When you put that wet pile of muddy ant hill on the platform, it sticks like glue. You have to get down and remove it. And thats when the lil fire ants come back to inflict their pain on you.My arm looks like a 14 year old kids face, with all the whelps and such.

I have 80 acres left, hopefully we will be done by tomorrow...rain predicted for Wednesday night and Thursday....

Hey lafarmer, I feel your pain regarding the fire ant thing. We mounted a garden hoe on the ladder. Helps in clearing off ant piles or the occasional throat plug due to vines etc...Used a scrap piece of pvc tubing as a scabbard, ready to go when you need it. Maybe get done cutting down rice Wednesday.

Downed rice is something I am glad I dont have to contend with. Has it sprouted? There is a fair amount here that laid down and has sprouted...not sure the extent of damage.
I will use the PVC and the hoe idea, unless you have a patent on it. If you do have the rights to it, sell me one!
My wife gave me some benedryl this morning, as my arm is whelped up...i think more like leprosy than bad acne. The bendryl makes me want to curl up in the fetal position and nap like hibernating bear.
Hope we can get all of tomorrow....I should be through. Then I have poly pipe to pick up, soil samples to take, fert to put out, rows to rehip....I just hope we have a dry November.

Would you believe--the dimmer switch--checked connections,
for some reason, walked by the headlights(to see if they
were on)-((dual headlights))felt the outside lens-warm????inside
lens cold--same on both sides--hit dimmer switch--HEAD LIGHTS--
probably won't pass dot.

The fog has lifted--water dripping off tarp, combine
WET on all outside surfaces---crop harvest possibilities
today--slim.

Filed an insurance claim for my broken axle on the theory that bouncing through washes, crossing terraces and such constituted a collision of sorts. An adjuster friend of my for another company said some companies pay, some don't unless you come to rest in the ditch or against a tree. Just wondering, anybody been through this?

My wife was running our combine the first year we were married, she was nineteen. The back axle broke off our 1480 so she was suddenly looking at the sky. She felt so bad when my dad came over to see what was wrong, she started to cry a bit. Dad just said don't worry about it, happens all the time. HA! Dad had it welded back together and running in a few hours. My wife tells the kids "I'll never forget the day I thought I destroyed the combine and Grandpa just said don't worry it happens all the time!"

We had broken a couple on irrigation tracks over the years before that, so it didn't happen all the time but he sure made her feel better.

The way I remember it IH didn't believe in using too much steel.

lafarmer, no patent on the ant hill tool so you go right ahead. I had about half of rice down this year. We quit counting inches of rain three weeks ago. Has to be somewhere in the 12"-14" range. We have managed to get most all the rice gathered...maybe 10% is too bad shape and sprouted to harvest. Still have 1200 ac. beans to cut and about as much cotton to pick. The co-op gin I am in has ginned about 70 bales this afternoon. We are usually over half done by now. Can't believe how late this one is. Hope you get to feeling better.

Verb, just send the invoice. I will be sure to get it in the mail.

We have 90% chance of rain tomorrow night....100% Thursday, HEAVY THUNDERSTORMS......

Had 2 neighbors roll in at dark today, going to help me get thru tomorrow. Hopefully. This is DC beans, and they are going to go about 35.

Well, I've got some pvc pipe in my plumbing stuff and I got a hoe in my concrete mixing stuff. But, I don't really have a patent. jk

We used to have trouble with frozen badger mounds in our irrigated corn rows. That was before global warming. I can remember hitting those dang things with the snout of the corn picker and I sure wish all I got was welts on my arm. But,

The last one I hit just popped up and flipped over as I cussed and cringed waiting for the snout to crush.

Here are some harvest photos taken prior to my Green POS having a two day come apart. Just got home with final drive, fan shaft and variable speed pully and other miscellaneous parts to get the POS up and going again....which will probably be after the expected flood we're supposed to get.

48 - I apologize for everything I said about your Red POS....If you can forgive me for my insulting behavior, could you please load up and lend a fellow AgWebber indistress a hand? I've been putting off starting beans and cutting wet corn...May turn out to be a poor decision.
