Cut 61 acres of beans yesterday with a 20' head and we do not dump on the go. I was pretty pleased. Beans made 54. That is about 10 better then average. Last year I installed a AFX rotor and was not impressed. This year it seems to be working great! I guess we just needed to get the edges wore down? Anyway, 265 acres left....Gotta go! Happy Harvest and I wish you all GOOD LUCK (yes even Faust)!

db--my count--36x14 or 16---"surviving" plants 8 inches apart?? RED and GREEN sat yesterday---will again today--showered after midnight--another shower moving in---I'll hijack 48 on the way by, even if it is red, so he may be a little longer getting your way. |

The weather arrived yesterday evening halting all harvest progress, heavy rain began during the night and continues. Yesterday afternoon while unloading the combine for the last time before ahutting down for the weather the unloading auger on my green POS buckled. It had been gradually getting lower on the graincart and I hoped it would make it, and it barely did. Got the combine to the shop and now will have something to do during this weather event. Finished dryland corn and started on some irrigated, the yeilds don't seem to be proportionately as good as the dryland.

Got all done with beans here last week. Averaged uper 40's which is phenominal on this ground. Managed to mud in 40 acres of wheat yesterday. Probably won't do worth a crap but need to do some ditching and deep tillage next sumer to turn the piece around so..
Been helping a friend the last couple days whos way behind do to alot of repairs. Cut tell 3:30 am Monday night, and 2:30 last night. 3 to 4 machines in the field keeps alot of guys busy. Very wet conditions only looks like its gonna get alot worse in the next souple days though.

South central WI 5 day forecast is rain through Sunday. I remember wet fall harvests in my youth and even with 4 wheel drives, this fall may not be fun at all.
That big USDA forecast yield will not stand.

Same here in SE MN glowplug. Chance of rain everyday the next 5 days. ECI'd some corn yesterday.....35% moisture yet, still almost to wet for HMSC. That field had black layered 3 weeks ago. Driest I have heard has been 28%.

"ECI'd some corn yesterday" I like that.
If the rain will hold off till dark, me and my brother will both be done with beans. Supposed to rain for the next 3 or 4 days. Severe weather is possible. Hope everyone has a good rest of the day. This weather....2-3 days running before another rain....this isn't funny anymore.

Hope you and your brother get'r done...
Now in Kansas--harvest won't happen again today, and with the forecast--until the first of next week---20/100 in the rain gauge at 10:00 am today--and STILL more moving in from the south--north breeze and the temperature is starting to fall--so far nothing about the predicted 1 and 2 inches of rain, then of course, the possibility of up to 3 inches of snow THURSDAY...
I better get to the shop and beat up something besides the z-'s |

I was rolling today....got the Green POS back together, final drive replaced as well as the blower fans and shafts....hooked up the platform to cut beans - made two passes and the overheat engine light comes on.....water low, no leaks...looks like the water pump went out.....Oh...and get this...JD's water pump weep hole doesn't run down the front of the engine...it goes back into the fricking engine! ***.....you've got to be kidding me, right? Nope...that's the way it is....my guess is so they can rebuild the engine when the oil breaks down from the water in it.....didn't see any visible water on dipstick, but did notice light smoke or steam, more than usual coming from the vent tube.....
Cut 4.5 acres after adding some antifreeze, unhooked the platform and drove the POS back to the dealer.
Good news the beans over the scale went 87.4 bu.acre. Asgrow 4103 planted @ 295K (accidently) fungicide applied.....By the time I get done, it will take 30 bu/acre to keep the POS going till harvest is over.
Looking at the radar, looks like maybe a week or more till we get back at it....more than likely. mud. |

We got through.
DB, I blew a motor in a 9600 once upon a time when the water pump seal went out. Not a good day that was.

| 9500. That's probably close to the repair bills $$$$ so far this week, and it's only Wednesday. At least while the fricking thing is parked during the rain it won't be racking up any additional bills. |

db - it is all those high yields that are ruining your equipment, you need to get back down to 40 bu. beans and 100 bu. corn. Oh! So you have taken your machine to the "parts replacers", be sure to smile when they bend you over the counter.
It is raining here, just sitting here in the "cat bird seat", started the combine moved it, sitting here with the semi tractor trailer ready to load. Need to put in a few plastic reel tines, backed into the head side panel of a 925 head with my pickup put a dent it.
Water pump went out of my 3/4 Ton PU. Called Tripple dipple AAAAAA to pick it up and haul it to town to shop. Had one day of indian summer (monday), the way things are going, might not get started taking out beans until freeze up. Need a week of dry Sunny weather. Water standing on river bottoms. Adios Amigo. John |
