Gonna go play in the mud today. Elevator stopped taking corn at 4:30 yesterday. Wonder what time it will close today? The Mr. hauled out of the bin yesterday. Guess we can put some back in today. Whatever it takes. Time to git-r-done. Take care and be safe. |

Well, yesterday was the straw that broke the camel's back....Out of the only 6 good harvest days, I've run 0. the Green POS and Mother Nature have teamed up and pinned me to the ground for the last time.
It's been nice knowing all of you here on AgWeb. My dear "friend" (I use that term loosely) Ken aka ECI attempted two days of counseling and assured me that things would get better....but NO...they got worse. Never trust an amateur psychiatrist when things go south.
As John would say, Adios, Amigos. Hope Alzado wasn't making that virgin thing up.

| Since it's so wet anyway, sounds like db maybe should trade that new 8430 and sunflower disk for a newer pos. Just a thought. |

I told you guys about all our troubles last year with our Green POS. This year one new 9770 blew the seperator drive with 2 hours on the machine. It was delivered from the factory with a bent vertical unloading auger. It's been great ever since but I can't believe they aren't better at building combines.
My neighbor has two brand new 9870's, one had four new hydraulic pumps put on before they could get it to raise the reel.
The red dealer has been running around with a 8120 with a 40 foot draper. He figured it would be around 100,000 to boot to trade a new 9770 in on it. Holy SH**!!!!
Go Bison! |

Well ECI, thank you for asking, I'm getting along just fine. I listen to the weatherman tell me how it's going to be two weeks of sunshine and on Monday it drizzles all day long. Haven't turned a wheel in over a week and the last time I did, plowed ruts like you couldn't believe. What I'd like to know is who pays all these bozo weatherpeople. Heck I can do as good as job forecasting as they are.

"Now is the time that tries men's souls" as Thomas Paine wrote so long ago during the American Revolution. Hang in there things will look better than they do now. We have had about five days of sunshine in a row after the wettest October on record. Finished up a small patch that I tried to get two weeks ago before the rain, ran with almost no ruts and the beans were 13% sure beat the former try at 17%. It was hard walking by the machine shed for two weeks with everything sitting there doing nothing. Everything comes to he who waits and things will get better and if they don't it will not matter in the long run. Remember db they make other combines there is only one of you! Think you have it bad with your green one? You could be driving a Massey and then you would know how lucky really are! |

Ken was right...I put it in my right ear....darned slug went straight through without hitting anything....broke my wife's Grandmother's vase and it broke into a hundred pieces...I've been gluing it all afternoon....think it looks pretty good...she'll never notice....
Here's the deal on trading for a news POS. I have all the tillage equipment because we need it to get a crop in the ground....Who Da Heck would think we'd ever actually have to harvest one down here.
Bad gamble on my part. My neighbor's POS burned to the ground...but nooooooooooo....not mine....the MF-er just keeps bleeding me......My auger cart combine collision that destroyed my unloading system is covered by my insurance.....so I'll only have to anti up a grand out of six....and then my rates will double.
The Green POS is sitting in front of the shop waiting for daylight....I hate having come-aparts in the dark....I'm almost too paranoid to get back on it. Where's 48 when you need him?

db: I can say I totally know where you are comming from with the POS. I have a '99 50 series STS and three years ago the left side of the grain tank and charge housing/unloading auger all but fell off. I paid to have it fixed and have had nothing but trouble with the unloading system ever since. I have complained and griped constantly about the job that was done, finally this year during HMC the tech that has worked on this machine for 9 out of the 10 years I have owned it came out and tells me there is a problem. ***! I have been telling him this for three years, he was not the one that repaired the grain tank thing, now it is not deere's problem it is mine because I did not bring the bad repair job to thier attention. WT double F!!!! Anyhow I have been trying to find a machine to trade for and really am in need of some Super Lube double magnum strength ASAP! At this point I am going to try and make it through. The 70 series deere's are built so cheap in comparison and there are alot of problems with them. To top off the problems both of my semi's are in the shop today with fairly major break downs and there is not a truck for hire in the area, without trucks no harvesting gets done. Hang in there we will make it. Maybe I need to start buying beer by the keg, this harvest is a nightmare! |
