db51: Hang in there and quit posting the "end all" crap. Always sends shivers down my spine even though I know you're kidding. Lost the elevator belt on the Red POS last week. My Lessee told me he had done it lots of times. He was going to take off the return and clean grain elevators. STOP! Called a mechanic out. I asked several times why did it break??? Both the mechanic and my Lessee said it was a corn cob. BS! I had the same mechanic back out the next am to adjust the return and clean grain in case they were so loose that they bound up. Anyway...it was the idler pulley. And...I must have looked at it 10X. Anyway, it blew up. And, plenty of time to fix it after 1.00" rain + 2" of snow. lol. Anyway...I cut enough of my Lessee's to even up the dirt work he did for me and am $1700 to the good. So... he's on his own with his Mother's combine. I had a buddy bring his semi over to run with mine and run my grain cart. Finally, got started late yesterday and got a good run in today until he had to quit at 8pm cuz his expectant diabetic wife had problems at home. I always like to cut everything full and have him run them in while I'm servicing out next am. This was RR corn that I never used glyphosate on. Bicep Lite pre-plant and 1/2# atrazine+8oz Banvel before 5". Clean!!!! I got fed up pushing Russian thistle on my Lessee's RR corn. lol.
BTW, moisture=16.1-16.3.
Hope your luck changes for the better. BTW, I have 7 coons here. The Dr. Pepper and potato chips ain't cuttin' it, but my cats like the Dr. Pepper. lol. Good luck! Stay safe!

DB,I've come to the conclusion after all your hardship and duress that you're still officially sane. Anyone that can still have humor and wit about a situation that tests ones intestinal fortitude and mindset, passes the test.
I once was saddled with a situation of a blown combine motor that was a blazing in fire. I sat up on top with a fire extinguisher thinking about letting the MF'er burn, I had just put 6 grand worth of repairs into it a month before.Decisions , decisions?????????????? When I though about my past experience when I had a barn fire and my new combine burnt up, the MFing insurance co. depreciated the thing by 50%.I was absolutely livid. My deductible went sky rocketing as a result of the claim of it and other implements, not a good fire. So I thought sitting upon a burning combine, those same MoFo's will try to replaced this aged POS with the same year and model that's probably run down, I said to myself , put the SOBing fire out and get another motor. Looking back, shoulda let the POS burn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

After reading WCKS's post, thought I'd let him know it isn't just his combine--or mechanics--as the neighbors sent there 50 STS to the JD shop this summer for the unloading auger side of the bin replacement etc--when it came back, weing the auger, and one end goes up on the conservation header, Has had the hydraulic blocks apart several times--replaced one, I stopped by--they were still in beans, and he was shoeing me, there are some "orfices" and O-rings for sealing--O-ring was seeping, another replacement, and then found two wires "cut"-- JD needs to have a special school--how to burn the 50 series to the ground while at their shop. When they run, they run, but when they are sick, "JC and the boys" need to guard the owners.
We still are having to shut down at dark--swamp ground moisture raises when temperature falls, and the ole JD doesn't take wet material.
I can get another hours sleep--if I can go back to sleep
Stay safe.

It's been nice knowing all of you here on AgWeb. My dear "friend" (I use that term loosely) Ken aka ECI attempted two days of counseling and assured me that things would get better....but NO...they got worse. Never trust an amateur psychiatrist when things go south.
As John would say, Adios, Amigos. Hope Alzado wasn't making that virgin thing up.

Hey db, there is light at the end of the tunnel and it is NOT a friggin' train headed your way. This stuff has a way of going in cycles. When your wet and broken cycle is over, every day will seem to be an greater day by comparison. I know it ain't fun when there are sooooooo many obstacles that are from time to time placed in our way but things will get better.

| we were cutting good with two machines in the dark when one broke a sickle . not two minutes later the truck driver calls and says auger cart slip clutch is burned up. five minutes later the roller shaft breaks on stone trap roller on other machine. just like that we were done for the night. beans are disappointing anyway, running 40 bu. and getting worse as we go. at least we know what we will be doing in the morning. going to take a lot of coffee to get all that fixed. |

Here is a picture of the expanded drying capacity I installed on one of my 10K bins today. Can any of you tell me which setting to use. Low, Med, High? Also, how long will it take to dry 28% corn to 15%. Thanks in advance.
BTW...The Green POS ran for 6 straight hours without a come-apart.

db, will have an answer for you soon, I have the most two people with the most knowledge to give you a sound piece of advice.1st my son in electrical engineering can do the rudimentary math to glean every perspective you need in ascertaining you quantum desire for a price. lol. Then we can go to the top of the class, my wife that hair dresses ole bities in a convalescent home, that can subscribe a remedy that makes a person yell" it's too damn hot" before the drying machine is actually turned on! lol. |

| Going to give corn a try again today. It has been hard waiting but everyone is sick of it too. Been hauling old crop out the last few days and this am I am taking the last 2 loads. Would have been done with that yesterday but the da before both of the semi's took a shixt got one back and the other is still at the doctor. Agweb has been dead so harvest progress must be taking place. I am definately happy for that. |

MUDDING soybeans out, going where we can go, pulling out, moving to another field in SE KS. Some are just clutching their behinds and cutting ruts from one end of the field to the other, we aren't doing that, so far, will come back. Most aggravating harvest I can remember, good beans, getting to them is something else, corn still standing, waiting.
Had some ductwork cleaned in the house, bad experience, had to have emergency Steamway come FIX the mess the other guy left. You know you are going over the edge when could I get away with it crosses your mind!
Stay safe, stay patient, it will get better, just don't know if it is on this side of our lives or not! We are lucky, Pelosi looking out for our healthcare (gag) the sun is shining, warm temps, can only get better!
Sorta reminds me of that old joke, a man was asked what were the last words his dad said to him! He replied, "son, that gun is loaded" If that doesn't make you smile, nothing can! :) |
