The sky is sun shiny and pretty today. I made 3020's & ECI's rain go around us and head toward Bins and JDMax. I think I can cut 200 acres of beans today. There was no dew last night, corn is down to 18% and drying fast...... Back to reality, rain, rain and more rain. Beans are cutting tough (when you can get in the field). Corn is wet. Dry or not, I would guess the corn will stand another 3-4 weeks before we even think about it. In my opinion, this is where grain bins pay big. When Coop is full and there is a line, we will be shelling. Build bins....

I beg to differ on the "never been a year we didn't get a crop out". We have had had more than one. Course we got two out the next year, but it really make it hard to get the next one in when your combining instead of planting! |

IA Dave: Point well taken. I have never harvested past Nov before in my life but I know people have. This year will be my first. Regardless, we are all in the same boat and everything will work out! We all need to worry about things that within our control and don't worry about the other stuff.

| Tim - W T F are you doing on the internet? it is 9:52 AM, here in gods country, why are you not in the field getting those crops out? You should have been done by now, had the equipment lubed, washed off, the grain heads repainted and cabs vacuumed out for next year, and sitting in the coffee shop whining with your neighbors about grain prices. You know you are going to have to take it up a notch, and get back in the game or your reputation in the community may be tarnished. They just do not make farmers like they used too. Adios Amigo. John. |

Just read Faust's last post. Just to ease the confusion, I always thought that we put a crop out at planting and brought a crop in at harvest. Am I right or wrong. Just wondering what the rest of the country thinks.
Going out to check sb's on the off chance that they might run. |

Faust: Here is the truth. ECI was close but not exact! It was 11:07 (not 11:06) and I had to call my wife back because I missed her call. She was on here way home with her dad. She had taken him to the hospital (check up). I was in the house to eat lunch because my wife wasn't around to fix it. I did NOT watch The Adny Griffith show like I normally do! I was in the field before 11:40 and the beans were plenty tough then.
So ECI was close but not exact!

No matter what time this shows for posted, it is now 1:41 pm Central S time--the soybeans are where they ended up yesterday---15%, the guys with bins and air--started, NO dust, reel came off the Red POS (48's version of a combine)---our combine is under a roof---clouds south of I-70 moving NE---we are still in clear--EXCEPT for the stuff building this side of Trinidad and La Junta and moving NE. Couldn't get the correct spelling, so it is now 1:44. |

It is now 4:39pm Central Time and sitting in a bar having a beer. But this is scary, I talk like Faust, we also say putting a crop in at spring and taking it out in the fall. Must be a Iowa thing.

I know I love my Red POS. We were able to cut another 30 acres yesterday. We quite at 8:30 because the were soppy wet from the dew. At the rate of 30 acres per day it will be a very long harvest. Looks like we have plenty of tome for planning. 2-4' of rain comeing in later today.

Hey fellers:
How many of you in NE+IA north of I80 are blacklayered?
In IL+IN north of I74, how many are black layered???
In IN+OH north of I70, how many are black layered???
Black Layer is physiological maturity at 30% moisture.
Let's try to figure out how many bil bu of corn is going to be low test weight due to the freeze.
We may see $4 cash corn again. lol. |
