Just wondering what you boys in Iowa, Illinois and the other heart of the cornbelt states are running. I have heard that the planting was delayed in many places and with the year we are having, I would think there is a lot of wet corn in the previously mentioned areas. Here in SE Nebraska I suppose on the average it is 18 percent. That is about the cutoff point for most of the elevators. It is going to be a long harvest unless the weather changes to warm and windy, and at this stage of the game I doubt that is going to happen.

This is the first year for a long time that the corn was wet. Usually it is too dry this time of year.

Two varieties side by side yesterday. One is 25 the other is 27. Dryer set on 40%, I think it is still too fast.

Have been running 106 and 110 day corn testing from 21 to 24%. Wet corn and drying capacity will make this crop harvest the longest/latest in recent times. Corn is still standing pretty well but all kinds of signs of lodging risks.

Here in Central MN is is running from 24-26%. Some guys that get talked into planting all full season hybrids from their dealers and agronomists are saying 32-36%. But my 89 day is at 24% and my 92 and 94 day is at 26%. Gonna let is dry some more this weeknd and early next week before taking the rest. Should be in the 22% range by mid-next week.

r3020 you said a mouthfull with that sentence.

Shelled corn 10 days ago at 25%, dryer set for 30%.

Shelled corn 7 days ago at 23.5% dryer set for 27%.

Drying corn at 20-21 right now, its set like 23-24% corn.

Only think I can figure is big kernals.

Rowdrop, make sure it is feeding out of all of the columns. One year when I emptied the dryer 3 columns had set up and were as black as burned popcorn. Don't know why it didn't catch fire.

r3020, had that happen at a local elevator yesterday. It was an old Butler/KanSun dryer that hadn't run in about five years. Owner says he thinks the corn was just too wet. Lots of problems around here.

3020 , rcr , If you look at thoughts big kernals,
anyway on mine , they were no more than black layer'd
I think rcr is right on , we got into some 19 % corn
and the kernals look normal ,like last year , and got
the dryer set like last year . 23 % corn was down to
450 an hour, 19 % corn 725 and and getin it . I think
the corn is finally catching up, Keep your stick
on the ice and have a good day , Ken

Ken....I can think of plenty of other options for my "stick" than on ice. I'm just saying....that's kind of weird....but then, you've got to consider the source.

Shelled a field Tuesday planted 4/25, tested 17.9%. Finished a field yesterday planted 5/29, tested 24%. Shelled a load yesterday evening in a field planted 4/26, tested 16.8% and this evening it tested 15.4%. It's definitely drying down. I think today was the best drying day in a month.
