Stuck in the Mud

Chris Long
Teamwork and a combined 1,420 hp didn’t make this tractor move. The results: more ruts and frustration.

Watch Out!

The driver’s heart likely skipped a beat when he realized he was resting atop a pickup.

In Deep Water

This wagon had a wild ride – meeting an electrical pole and a pond. Luckily, the silage stayed dry.

More Than Stuck

Field work was delayed, when this driver realized the ground wasn’t as dry as anticipated.

Stuck is an Understatement

How do you get a 240 PTO hp tractor stuck this bad? Loan your tractor to someone who is not a farmer.

Watch out for the water hazard

Tillage was put on hold when this Challenger found a mud hole.

Buried Backhoe

When this machine get buried, only the bucket arm was left to see.

Harvest Nose-dive

This combine’s arrival to the field was delayed.

Soggy Squad

When a sprayer got stuck, two more tractors ended up getting their feet a little too wet as well.

Overload

Not quite all of this combine’s load will make it to the bin.

Totaled Out

Rains washed out the road—and wiped out this rig. Driver: unharmed. Tractor: totaled.

Floater Not Floating

This floater hit a soft spot that consumed it like quick sand, requiring the Case IH to step in.

Change in Plans

When folding the wings on this drill, the hitch broke, flipping the drill upside down in the dirt.

Hey, Can You Hear Me Now?!

Chatting on the cell phone (not watching the terrain) landed this combine driver in the ditch.

Not This Time

This path wasn’t the same after 6" of rain, neither was the mud-covered tractor.

In a Predicament

Stuck in a rut has a whole new meaning when looking the predicament this sprayer encountered.

Runaway Wagon

This ride ended at the bottom of a hill, with an over-turned silage wagon and a chiropractor visit.

Slip ‘n Slide

This tracked tractor lost its way.

Cow goes for a ride

Bruce Mackay
My wife, Nancy, took this picture of a guy pulling into Lowes with a cow strapped to the bed of the pickup. Growing up on a farm, and transporting lots of cows, I've never thought to strap down a cow. And why does someone take a cow to Lowes? So many questions, too little answers. We have since found out that there is a butcher shop behind the lowes building

Tractor Vs. Mushy ground

Daniela Dryer
Was disk ripping up a new field and there was a hole in the ground and it was bigger then it looked. The hole is from the farmer before who had gotten stuck in the same spot. The hole was so big that the front tire was just about gone.

Shifty load

Soft bales and an inch of rain caused a load of bales to tip overnight.

Maybe a little too wet

Jay Carlson
soft sandy ground chiseled in fall, too wet in spring

Receiver Hitch Failure on Neighbors Pickup Truck

Kevin Lins
What happens when the cushioned receiver hitch retaining pin on a pickup truck either breaks or falls out. It was never found. Someone reported this mishap to the WDNR (Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources) as deer baiting and the WDNR forced the owners to clean it up.

Wagon wreck

Manufacturer defect in the rim ruined a really nice day!

When plans go out the window!

John Lase
Got stuck with the sprayer and everytime we pulled it just sunk deeper, Ended up taking, 2 tractors, an excavator, and a load of railroad ties, to get this mess out!

A Machinery Snarl

The race to the field took a turn for the worst when this fleet of machinery got a bit too anxious. Field work took a back seat in order to clean up the wreckage.

Jackknifed

While driving down the road, the driver accidently engaged the PTO on the grain cart. When he looked over his shoulder to see if the auger was running, he veered off into the ditch. His attempt to gain control exaggerated the calamity.

Haste Makes Waste

This grain bin was hastily moved from another farm--and hastily filled with high-moisture corn. In the course of reconstructing the bin, not all of the crossbars were put back in the walk-in door...providing that haste makes waste.

Tractor Versus Bin

It looks like this tractor thought it had enough horsepower to take on a nearby grain bin in a king-of-the-mountain match. In the end, though, the grain bin held its ground, bringing the tractor to an awkward halt. hello.

The Wrong Horsepower

When it came to check cows, the decision was made to head out in the mini-truck, rather than on horseback. A horse would have jumped--or at least cautiously crossed--the ditch. Unfortunately, the mini-truck took a nosedive.

Pop-Up Truck

This is what happens when you don't open the tailgate before lifting the bed. Grab your cell phone for help because it's a long way to the ground.

A Nut Case

The less-than-idea weather conditions were more than complicating harvest on this New York far--that is, until the nut came off the end of the shaft, Rain or shine, this combine was going nowhere.

One Hot Combine

Kinser Jensen
The combine only had 68 hours on it when it decided it had had enough. They had been having problems with catching on fire but the beans couldn't wait and the dealer apparntly wasn't that concerned with their brand new machine. See if you can find any green left.

Lost Combine

Laura Alsman
This new combine was being hauled on a flatbed. High winds caused the driver to loose control, his tires went off of the highway and the weight of the load caused it to roll of of the trailer.

Bad tractor

Sam Williams
John Williams was just a plowing and he fell into mud..

Upside down

Jared Isaac
While approaching the runway this cropduster lost power and crashed. Fortunately, the pilot only received a few bumps and bruises.

Oops

This tractor proved it was still a little too wet to get back in the fields this spring.

oops

Dennis Worm
This what happens when get a little to close to the edge, only damage was a broken light on fender

A Foggy Harvest Morning

Lexi Dick
I took this photo September 3rd at about 7:30 A.M. My dad's machinery had to sit idle all day because of the heavy fog in the morning. I looked out the front window yesterday before school and thought it was a cool view!

Two is not better than one

A surprising discovery while checking cows.

Off Track

Mark Spielman
Mark was combining for a neighbor in 2008 with his tracks and rear wheel assist 9650 when the studs on the final drive snapped during a turn. He took the track home, repaired the stud damage, lifted the combine with his 8410T three point and reattached the track. Then he drove the machine home and repaired the damage and installed a spacer that is welded to the track mounting plate. The studs now do not bear any of the combine weight when the tracks are installed.

Harvest Derailed

The trailer that this new combine was traveling on bottomed out on the railroad tracks. Along came a train—and the rest is history.

A Sinking Feeling

Watching the runaway silage wagon begin its descent down the hill after unhooking it was only the beginning. It took two days to drain the farm pond and fork out the haylage by hand.

Tipsy-turvy

What do a hill, a groundhog hole and driving fast have in common? All three combined to make this baler tip over. While trying to beat the rain, the farmer went a bit too fast on an incline and hit a groundhog hole. The tractor almost tipped over, too. Luckily, everything turned out all right, if not right-side-up.

Sink, Sank, Sunk

Maybe this tractor needed to cool down after a strenuous day of work. Or maybe the driver lost control. Who knows? It’s safe to say, though, this tractor found itself creating work instead of being helpful.

A Tangled Mess

Despite a wide-open field and ideal spring conditions, this seeding rig found itself snarled amongst power lines. Planting came to a halt as well as the electrical supply of those on the power grid.

An Uphill Battle

The already dirty job of pumping a lagoon took a turn for the worse when the clevis pin broke on this 6,000-gal. honey wagon. Anyone who has pumped manure can attest to the sheer mess of the situation.

Live and Learn

A curve in the road proved to be too much for this bulldozer, sending a candid reminder to use chains, chains and more chains to secure equipment.

Down Deep

The plan was to build a pond. From the looks of this, the pond might still get dug—but it will be done as the new crew of machines work to unearth this excavator that’s not going anywhere by itself.

Not Going Anywhere Fast

This 4WD and honey pot got stuck in softening wet, frozen ground.

Stuck

Zach Eisenbarth
The trackhoe sunk in the silt while digging out a ditch.

Gophers Take Down Tractor

The farmer has a real problem with gophers.

Big Mess

Ed Farrington
Spindle broke. No harm to wagon or driver.
