Headline fungicide is accepted by farmers in our area as the fungicide of choice for soybeans,” said agronomist Jim Christenson of Le Sueur, Minnesota.

Christenson works with producers who primarily grow soybeans and corn. By using Headline® fungicide to control diseases and improve Plant Health, farmers in the Le Sueur area have enjoyed soybean yield advantages of 6 to 10 bu/A. These yield boosts delivered by Plant Health have greatly increased producers’ interest in applying Headline.

“I’ve worked with Headline for three years. The thing I like about using Headline is that you can see the advantage in the combine tank and in the field. Over the past three years, the farmers I’ve worked with have seen excellent yield advantages with Headline applied to soybeans,” said Christenson.

“With the price increase we’ve seen on soybeans this year and yield advantages of up to 10 bu/A, farmers are looking for a positive return on investment from using Headline,” said Christenson.

Despite a dry growing season in 2007, Jim reports growers harvested soybeans that averaged 50 bu/A. Applications of Headline controlled diseases, improved Plant Health increasing stress tolerance so that the treated soybeans produced higher yields. In fields treated with Headline fungicide, the pods remained attached to the soybean plants later in the season to make the harvest window longer, according to Christenson.

You’ll be amazed at how much difference the superior disease control of Headline can make at harvest. Compared to untreated, the plants treated with Headline (left) have green leaves right up to maturity. And they produce more abundant and larger pods, resulting in bigger yields.

“Because the ethanol business has become a large influence on farming in this area, we’ve seen more corn acres and fewer bean acres. But a larger percentage of our soybean acreage is now treated with Headline,” said the Minnesota agronomist.

On the other hand, the farmers I work with have also seen yield advantages delivered from applying Headline fungicide to control diseases and improve Plant Health in corn. On corn following corn, yield responses have run from 12 up to 29 bu/A.

The excellent yield response due to disease control and improved Plant Health seen by agronomist Jim Christenson is yet another great Headline success story.
